Who we are
An initiative to establish an Israeli framework
The Israeli community in Hamburg is an initiative to establish an independent educational, cultural and social framework for Israelis in the city
Founding of the community
The community was founded on the Hanukkah holiday 2023, within the framework of a joint lighting of candles and for the purpose of the first meeting of Israelis in the city
The first meeting
About 80 people attended the first meeting of the community, an event that marked the beginning of the process of forming an Israeli community in the city
Strengthening the need for a community
October 7th strengthened the need of many Israelis in the city to create a protected space for conversations in Hebrew and a community framework that enables the "togetherness" that we have all been missing
An open and inclusive community
The community is open and inclusive to all Israelis and Israelis in the city as well as to those who are connected to Israeli culture and the Hebrew language and wish to be part of and participate in the Israeli community life

Activities for Israeli families
Exciting activities in Hebrew language on weekends with touchpoints to Jewish holidays, reading, writing, singing and Hebrew literature as well as creative activities

Large, communal festive meals for the community with activities for children, community singing, folk dances and social activities

After-work bar evenings, women's groups and parties for young people as well as discussion evenings on topics of Israeli and Jewish culture and tradition, e.g. salon memories

Similar to an Israeli community center, but with a clear focus on families with young children
Sponsored by the City of Hamburg
The location is fully financed by them and made available to the Israeli community free of charge
Available for weekly meetings on weekends and also in the afternoons during the week
The location has a variety of equipment for various purposes: games, musical instruments, craft materials, educational learning area and counseling
A team of mothers who lead the educational and cultural activities during the meetings

The community school of the Israeli community in Hamburg will ensure the preservation of Israeli identity, the Hebrew language, and the connection to modern Jewish tradition for families living far from Israel and interested in preserving and strengthening the Israeli character.
The school will be a center for community activities with parent involvement and strengthening the sense of belonging.
A comprehensive educational offering, including a curriculum for Hebrew and Israeli traditions with a focus on reading, writing, poetry, and Hebrew literature.
Strengthening the relationships between children and parents through creative activities and discussions about shared values.
A platform for gaining initiatives and strengthening the volunteer spirit among parents to advance the building and development of the community.
What is the added value of the Community Center (Beit Ha'Am - בית העם) ?

Building an infrastructure for weekly activities to instill continuity and coherence in the community

Professional support, guidance, and training for the educational staff, including learning materials in line with the "Hebrew-for-me" pedagogical concept

Integration of the educational institution as part of a global network of the World Zionist Organization and the Community Institute, which will enable professional consultation and knowledge sharing

Initial Funding of €5000 for opening the education center is already secured
Qualification Programm for Hebrew teachers for two groups in the ages of 3-14 and acquisition of teaching materials and pedagogical infrastructure
Establishing a "Parents-Community" for raising engagement and commitment among the adults and thus broadening the activities spectrum
Conceptualizing an Israeli Community Center
Activities and offers for various age groups, Israeli and non Israeli alike, in cooperation with partner organizations in the city such as the Jewish Community, Judges for Jewish Life, German-Israeli Society and more, to strengthen Israeli culture in the city and serve as an "integrative bridge" between Israelis, Germans and all other cultures and nationalities in Hamburg

Im Rahmen unseres Gala-Abends anlässlich des Chanukka-Fests, des neuen Jahres und des ersten Jubiläums der israelischen Community möchten wir Spenden sammeln. Die Spenden unterstützen die Arbeit der Israelischen Community, insbesondere bei der Gründung eines israelischen Bildungszentrums. Zukünftig soll es zu einem israelischen Begegnungszentrums ausgebaut werden mit dem Ziel, eine Brücke zu schlagen zwischen israelischen Hamburger:innen und anderen Menschen aus der Mehrheitsgesellschaft und somit das israelische Leben in der Stadt zu stärken.
